  19.      Doesn't an "exploding disk" seem incorrect - physically speaking?  I'd
  20.      expect an exploding "shell of matter."  The "shell" was probably
  21.      considered much harder to animate, and the disk was thought of to be
  22.      easier to grasp for the audience since it is 2-dimensional.  Come to
  23.      think of it, what a coincidence that this exploding disk happened to
  24.      intersect their ship's plane?!?  ;)

  33. I was watching Star Trek VI "The Undiscovered Country" again last weekend.
  34. If anyone has seen it, there is a part where the Kilgon moon explodes
  35. sending out a "shock wave".  The wave is a disc of fire and turbulence, not
  36. a sphere.  I was wondering if anyone knows a way to create something like
  37. that in LW.  I have tried creating a disc, asigning a fractal noise pattern
  38. to it, then setting the transparency to 100% with the edge transparency
  39. set to opaque and a high threshold value.  Doesn't look very good.

  41. If any one has any ideas, I would appreciate it... I'm a little bored after
  42. completing my latest video project, and need a new challenge.

  44. Also it was posted not too long ago about creating a nebula using a
  45. displacement map... could someone please repost that.
